The Premise
According to Psychology Today, music is technically a combination of sounds, in the form of a vibration. Not only do they have the power to reach us on social and emotional levels, but also on a higher more spiritual level. Music has the power to put us in such a psychological state, that not even words can describe the feeling.


MUSIC EVOLUTION OVER TIME
1950's-2000's
1950: This era marked the rock'n'roll era, with well-known musicians today such as Elvis Presley. He was considered the "king of rock'n'roll" because of his good looks, and catchy music spreading to households across the nation.
1960: This era was referred to as the "swinging-sixties"; It was famous for bringing racial integration into the music industry. For example, African American artists such as The Supremes were ranked number one on the Billboard Album Charts.
1970: This era was famous for more intense rock. Bands such as Kiss were well-known for their wild wardrobes and face-paints, fire breathing, etc. It was the beginning of angst and aggression through music because of the band's lyrics and stage performances.

1980: This era was the beginning of music videos, such as the hit song "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles. Heavy metal and hard rock remained in this era with the hit artists such as Guns n' Roses and Bon Jovi.

1990: This era was famous for it's "grunge music", such as the band Nirvana. More than this, female pop stars such as The Spice Girls invaded the pop scene that travels into the next century.

2000: This era contained a mix of both pop stars and rappers battling for spotlight. Eminem's impeccable rhyming abilities battled with hit singles from Britney Spears who became a prominent figure in pop culture in the 2000's.
