MUSIC CAN TRIGGER CERTAIN AREAS IN THE BRAIN TO CAUSE REACTIONS AND EMOTIONS

Music is commonly seen as a way of bringing and binding people together throughout all societies. In order to regain the original exciting bond of music, you would need to go to either a concert, music festival, or a religious event. According to Oxford Academic, people do not know that there is also the bonding of nervous systems, through a term referred to as "veritable 'neurogamy'". This term essentially is hinting towards the term "monogamy" which refers to committing to one subject at a time. In this case, all people in one society are coming together to bond over one thing: the power of music.

Music initially arrives in the form of sound waves, starting its journey through your ears. The outer ear collects sound waves, funnels them to the eardrum and inner ear, where vibrations occur to send electrical messages to your brain to be interpreted into music.

The hippocampus is responsible for storing new memories and bringing about emotional responses (such as fear and anger).

The prefrontal cortex helps to manage extreme impulses and emotions, such as making good judgement calls to prevent undesirable behaviors.

The parietal lobe is responsible for things such as spatial orientation, information processing and cognition.

According to Examined Existence, “A study conducted by experts from the University of Groningen shows that people enjoy a ‘happier’ perception when they listen to lively music.”

Music makes you happy because they have a happy outlook. The expression “fake it ‘till you make it” applies in this circumstance.

Think of taking a trip to the spa. Individuals who typically attend the spa go for more of a therapeutic, relaxing effect. What people don't realize, is that there is gentle water-styled music playing in the background. Therefore, during your entire spa experience, you subconsciously become calm from the music traveling through your ears, into your mind, then throughout your body.

COMMENTS

If you were to listen to rap music which is typically more aggressive, wouldn't you be more likely to participate in more aggressive behaviors which could result in crimes? It has been found that listening to happy, upbeat music has positive effects on your brain, such as creativity and teamwork abilities. On the other hand, listening to music all day can negatively impact your ears first. Listening to music for the majority of time through headphones can be damaging to your hearing, so it is important to be mindful of the volume of which you are listening to music. More times than not, the effects that music can have on your hearing abilities are not discovered until it is too late, and your eardrums have already been impacted.
